"Spotty or Degraded Image Quality This problem may be caused by a dirty corona wires. Since laser printer toner cartridges contain powder instead of liquid ink, the corona wires emit a static charge that allows the paper to hold on to the powder so it can be melted by the heat roller. The wires are usually located near the paper rollers and should be gently cleaned with a dry swab. Uneven Print Density If your cartridge has more toner on one side than the other, it could result in pages with uneven print density— that is, one side is darker and the other is lighter. Remove the toner cartridge and give it a gentle side-to-side shake to redistribute the powder inside. Never shake it vigorously in an up-and-down manner or the contents may spill out. Also, make sure that the printer is sitting on an even surface to prevent this from happening again."
