A
printer cartridge can be any one of two things: an ink cartridge or a
toner cartridge. The first one is used for inkjet printers. The
second is designed for laser printers.
By
definition, an ink or inkjet cartridge, is a consumable component of
an inkjet printer that holds the ink and print nozzles. A toner
cartridge, by comparison, is the replaceable part of a laser printer
where the powdery ink or toner is found. The toner cartridge is
otherwise known as a laser toner.
Regardless
of the type of cartridge that you use, the ink on it would dry up or
be used up some time in the future. In other words, you would need to
replace your cartridge sooner or later so that it can continue
satisfying your printing requirements. Take note, however, that not
all printers would alert their users whenever their cartridges are
already in need of replacement.
Then
again, in case your printer has given out a warning that it's running
out of ink, don't rush into securing a replacement just yet. Most of
the time, there's still ink left, which will suffice to produce
printouts of more than a couple more pages. Disregard the
notification until such time that no more ink is transferred onto the
paper at all.
