Many businesses may have started to shift into more digital-heavy operations, but hard copies of documents are still important in their operations. Needless to say, the need for hard copies highlights the importance of using reliable printers. Otherwise, time and money are wasted.
However, like any office equipment, there may be times when that reliable printer fails at an inopportune time. This situation does not automatically require a printer change though, just a few simple troubleshooting steps. Check out some suggestions below.

Protect Your Printers from Hackers

Hackers can exploit just about everything these days, from websites and even smartphones. Unfortunately, the hacking doesn’t end there. Even the humble printer is now at risk as two New York academics proved they can hack into an HP laser laserjet printer.

This opens up the possibility of affecting several printer models, including the HP Color Laserjet 3600, among others. As a result, the computer manufacturing giant Hewlett-Packard has made steps to address risks of hacking. One of the efforts undertaken by the company to increase protection levels of their printers was to issue over 56 firmware updates.

The main issue lies on public awareness, especially when it comes to the vulnerability of existing computer firmware. Computer users are also unaware that some of their other devices at home do not have anti-virus software and firewall. This problem is just one of the many others that are challenging the industry and the consumers.

To avoid being hacked, consumers should choose reliable suppliers that offer all kinds of computer products and other related equipment. Going for trusted sellers who carry original products from computers to printers and down to other supplementary items like the HP 12A toner cartridge. Getting informed and finding the right sources can help consumers get the best value for their purchases and stay protected.

Improve Office Productivity with Ideal Printers

Whether you’re running a small business or a global corporation that deals with a lot of records or documents on a regular basis, your productivity also depends on having a trusty printer. Buying the machine itself isn’t the only thing you should consider though. Below are some things to keep in mind.
If your office depends on hauling out documents requiring many reams of paper in a single setting, your printer is likely to run out of toner before its expected lifespan. This, in turn, can lead to disruptions in the office workflow, and naturally, you want ways to keep the momentum going. Part of that endeavor involves acquiring new printer ink cartridges from reputable suppliers.
A look at an office supplies provider’s list of offerings can help you decide on what to buy. Researching on the types of documents you generate, for one, allows you to choose a printer that is most suited for fulfilling that need; this can save you a lot of money before you ever print a single page. Even if you snapped up a quality printer for, say, around $200, expect to invest as much on its “ammunition.”
Take note that stockpiling a number of printer cartridges for the foreseeable future doesn't give you leeway to print with the highest settings. Efficient cost savings on print can be had through a number of ways. For instance, your choice of printer will need to be capable of duplex work or back-to-back printing.

Ink Conservation Tips for Regular Printer Users

A maintenance practice that needs to be done regularly by printer owners is to dab its head with ink, but some printers can do this automatically as part of their original design. This function is characterized by the strange noise at the onset of the equipment’s operation once the user clicks on the “Print” button on his or her computer. Ink economy varies by printer make and model, but there are printers that do not conserve ink as much as the others.

Despite this issue, researchers believe there's no need to sacrifice performance by choosing an ink-efficient model. You can get ideal print quality while save on ink replacement costs at the same time. Printer ink conservation all boils down to how you use your printer.

For one, owners of these ink guzzlers can get more ink for their buck by leaving the printer on, reducing the frequency of the maintenance cycle mentioned above. As for power consumption issues, inkjet printers are known to consume up to 90 percent less power in operational mode than laser printers. Modern printers can go on sleep mode on their own after a long time of being on standby, saving more power in the process.

Other ink-saving tips include avoiding an early cartridge change. The best indication of a necessary printer ink cartridge change is when the next page comes out pale or blank. Paying attention to notifications of low ink levels also help.

Spot Problems in Toner and Driver when Printing

Survey your workplace quickly, and chances are, you’ll see at least one printer. Despite the usefulness of such office equipment though, it can still have problems every now and then.

Resolving Printer Cartridge and Toner Difficulties

Businesses and homes alike can't do without their laser printers, relying on the devices' rapid printing speed, vibrant color output, and affordable printer toner cartridges. However, if you’ve ever owned one, you're most likely familiar with the challenges in maintaining such devices, especially when it comes to print quality. Users should be able to identify potential problems to better respond to such emergencies.

If the printer produces a poor image quality, it can be due to dirty corona wires. Since laser printer toner cartridges contain powder instead of liquid ink, the corona wires emit a static charge that allows paper to hold on to the powder so it can be melted by the heat roller. The wires are usually located near the paper rollers and should be gently cleaned with a dry swab.

Meanwhile, your cartridge having more toner on one side than the other can result in pages with uneven print density. This means that one side is dark and the other is light. An easy trick to solve this is to remove the toner cartridge and give it a gentle side-to-side shake to redistribute the powder inside.

Additionally, toners could vary in their page yield due to certain factors. For example, complex projects that use lots of color will deplete the cartridge faster than simple black-and-white documents. For first draft documents, you can always lower your print quality settings to extend your cartridges’ yield.
