Finding out Whether the HP Color Laserjet 3600 Printer Fits Your Needs

"As such, you may want to take note of your previous printer usage patterns beforehand. Likewise, see whether you’d be satisfied with a no-frills inkjet printer or an all-in-one model that lets you print, scan, and even fax documents. Some new printer models now allow users to print wirelessly or directly from mobile devices, features which can help boost workplace productivity. It may also be helpful to heed online reviews that can tell you all about the cost, speed, average output, and image quality of prospective inkjet printer models, such as the reliable HP Color LaserJet3600. However, don’t rely solely on reviews from other consumers or industry experts. You might want to create a checklist of the exact printer features you need so you can narrow down your selection."

How to Set Up Your Printer Cables

This task may seem daunting if you often see wires endlessly snaking around, but setting up printer cables is actually a cinch if you do it right the first time. However, if you don't pay attention to the connector type you need and fail to measure the cable run before you set up your printer, you might just be in for a little headache.

Determine the type of cables you need

Some printers come solely with a power cable and not with the cables needed to connect them to a computer, so you'll need to purchase the right type of cable. Some printers are designed to connect directly to a computer's USB port, while others are built to connect to a network via an Ethernet cable. In short, confirm the type of cable you need before purchasing it.

Determine the length of the cable

The cable length will depend on how far from the computer you want the printer to be. Be sure to leave plenty of slack if you need to maneuver the cable around furniture and other obstacles. That said, don't put your printer too far away from the computer. Remember that the longer the cable, the more it will cost, so it's best to keep the distance between computer and printer to a minimum.

Top Toner Cartridge Problems to Avoid

The toner that you use for your laser printer needs much more care and attention than the kind used in typical inkjet printers. For one, laser printer toners come in powder form, and fuse with the paper with the use of heat, electrical charges, and pressure. This difference means that laser printer  cartridges can suffer from unique problems.

Whenever a new cartridge is installed, you might notice that the print quality seems rather light in color, or worse, the whole thing just stops working. When this happens, pull out your toner cartridge and look at it closely, as this might be the root of the problem. The cartridge should come with at least one protective strip to keep from spilling over while in transport, so be sure to remove all these strips prior to installation.

Do you see random marks on the backside of the page you're printing? Your cartridge might be leaking; to check, open the printer's toner access door and look for signs of toner dust all over the place. You might need to replace your cartridge and clean the entire inside of the printer before using it again.

Print drums could also wear out with time, and pose a bit of a problem since they are often found in the cartridge. If you're buying a new toner cartridge, make sure that the drum is new as well, since there are manufacturers that might use worn, old drums on brand-new cases.
