One
can argue that the computer chair is one of the greatest innovations
present in today's workplaces. Specially designed, it provides
comfort, back support, and ease of mobility to the user.
Like
all innovations, however, these chairs are still vulnerable to damage
and problems. If office managers do not carefully choose the
furniture, or if office personnel misuse them, chairs can break down
earlier than expected. Here are examples of problem areas in computer
chairs and the ways you can prevent them from inconveniencing you:
- Seat cushions. Several cushions are designed to be comfortable for only a short period of time. It is wise to check the material of the cushion and ask the salesperson about the length of time a certain type of chair can be used.
- Castors. These parts are the ones responsible for the motility of the entire chair. However, certain types of castors can cause damage to floor surfaces. These problems can be solved by placing a chair mat to protect the floor.
- Gas cylinders. These parts enable you to adjust the height of the chair. Various reasons such as excessive weight limits and the age of the cylinder can render the chair ineffective. It is good to ask the salesperson about chairs that can support any user’s body weight.
