Allowing your children
to unleash their creative side through art will help them develop
problem-solving abilities that would aid them in situations that
usually require more than simple knowledge. The problem many parents
have, however, is that they are left with so little time to harness
the creative potential of their children.
School
often takes up most of the time kids need to pursue other activities
that would help them develop mentally, socially, and physically. When
the children are home, much of their idle time is either spent
playing with toys and computers or watching TV shows. Such activities
do stimulate creativity in a child, however passively. Children
tap
into their imaginations as they follow the storyline of their
favorite cartoon program, but they can also do more and draw out
original ideas from their own mind.
Parents can allow their
children to express their creativity by giving them art materials or
enrolling them in art school. Many kids would be content with only
just a sketch pad and a bunch of crayons. Giving children these tools
enables them to spend hours and hours shaping and reshaping their
imagination. Their artworks can also serve as a means for them to
communicate to you thoughts and feelings that they are unable to
verbalize.
