Get the Most Out of Your Ink Toner Cartridges

Ink toner cartridges are not that cheap. If you feel that your cartridge runs out of ink faster than you expect, follow these tips to save on ink:

Ignore out-of-ink warnings – Most of the time, ink toner cartridges are still 8 to 45 percent full when the warning pops up. Printer experts say that a cartridge sends that message not because there is no ink left, but because the toner that remains in it becomes degraded after some time and won’t be able to produce printouts that meet company standards. If your cartridge really has too little ink left, you can use a hair dryer to thin out the ink for a better flow.

Use ink-saving fonts – Changing your default font setting can make a big difference. Avoid chunky fonts and boldface setting. Century Gothic uses 30 percent less ink compared with printouts using the Arial setting. You may have to use extra paper since the font is a little wider, but that’s a slight trade-off.

Change your printer settings – Some default printer settings eat up more ink because of the manufacturer’s high quality standards. Set the print quality to draft, the color to grayscale, and the document options to “print multiple pages per sheet” to produce ink-efficient printouts.

By following these simple tricks, your ink toner should last longer. Meanwhile, to ensure high-quality ink toner cartridges, purchase only from competent office supply vendors.
